We have been very busy over the last few months raising money and providing support for a very worthy cause. Joining the High Tide foundation last year, we’ve been working closely with them to offer advice for youths in the region.
The High Tide foundation is a charity that brings together industry and education to inspire and educate youths in Teesside to think about their future aspirations. It’s also a great chance to show young people the region’s impressive companies across various professional industries.
In 2017, we began to work with the High Tide foundation and offered a work experience placement for a student during the summer to show what the civil engineering industry is like. Later in the year, we hired our first apprentice through the foundation, Tom, who will be starting a Level 3 BTEC course in Built Environment at college in September.
We’re always looking to get involved with these kinds of Foundations that deliver projects we’re passionate about. We recently attended the High Tide Annual Ball in May which raised an impressive £4,500 during the evening.
The team at Lynas Engineers are very enthusiastic about inspiring and educating young people in the area and really respect the High Tide Foundation for playing such an important part in this. Always keen to get involved, we gave Year 9 students some insight into the interesting world of engineering on an education boat trip across the Tees river.
We’re also proud to announce that two members of our team, Rob and Wayne, are taking part in the Great North Run this year to raise money for the High Tide Foundation.
