Derek Smith, former Consultant to the Redcar-based engineering firm has taken a new role as Non-Executive Director to help take the business through its next impressive growth stage.

Formally, Derek had participated in activities including the development of business planning activities including Recruitment, Retention and Training and Development, alongside mentoring staff in role to help them reach incorporated engineer status and beyond.

In his new role, Derek will support the strategic business development planning and helping Lynas Engineers reach its full potential; bringing with him nearly 4 decades of experience in the field and is also a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Derek said, “I’m thrilled to have taken on the role as Non-Executive Director at a crucial time in the growth of the business. I have always seen the bigger picture with Lynas [Engineers] in that they are a growing company with a fantastic Vision to deliver ‘Personal Design and Remarkable Solutions’ to the civil engineering industry and playing a part in that growth is an exciting prospect.”
